Time Travelers is the 18th episode of Season 9 of Beavis and Butt-Head and the 240th episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Beavis and Butt-Head cross back and forth across the Texas-New Mexico state line into the Mountain Time Zone and think they can travel through time.

Plot[]

Mr. Van Driessen's class is on a field trip to the west as he explains to them that past the nearby state line is the Mountain Time Zone, which is one hour from their own. Beavis and Butt-Head ask if this means they can time travel, and despite Van Driessen clarifying it's just a different time zone, the boys still think it is time travel.

They immediately split from the class and go to the road sign indicating entrance to Mountain Time Zone. Once they pass it and enter "the future", they decide to head to a nearby gas station to get hot dogs. Beavis drops his on the floor, and they decide to go back around the sign to before he drops it so it won't have germs.

While they're eating, the convenience store owner tells them they have to pay. Butt-Head explains they're from the past and will pay him in the future when they have money. The owner throws the boys out of the store. They wonder what else to do, thinking the future isn't as cool as they expected. Butt-Head suggests they travel to a future point in time when they can score since chicks will probably have "loosened up" about it.

The boys walk backwards past the sign so they don't go too far forward. However, Beavis trips and breaks his arm. Butt-Head tells him they just have to go to before he broke it. So they circle the sign again and Beavis claims his arm feels better. Seeing two "future" chicks at the gas station, the duo approach them saying they want to score with them. The women are appalled by Beavis' arm and leave. Beavis and Butt-Head circle the sign to go back and try again but see the women drive off with their partners.

Thinking they went back too far, Beavis and Butt-Head decide to keep going back until they reach a point in time before those women had boyfriends so they can score with them. Beavis and Butt-Head circle the sign repeatedly when Butt-Head talks about going back to before Beavis was born and scoring with his mom. Beavis angrily chases him around the sign until they both get dizzy and fall down the cliffside next to the road.

No longer seeing the sign, Beavis and Butt-Head think they are stuck in the past. They venture deeper into the wasteland, figuring they are in caveman times and talk about scoring with gorillas and Eve from the Bible. Meanwhile, on the school bus, Van Driessen is telling his class they can't leave without Beavis and Butt-Head, even though it is now late in the day. He asks his uninterested students if they have seen the boys; nobody points out they are visible in the distance behind him.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode to be written by Chris Marcil on his own without Sam Johnson.
  • This episode is somewhat similar to "Time Machine" from Season 8, as they both involve the duo going on a field trip and thinking they have somehow travelled in time, and both episodes have "Time" in the title.
