Sporting Goods

Sporting Goods is the 12th episode in Season 3 of Beavis and Butt-Head. It is the 41st episode overall.

Summary[]

Beavis and Butt-head are sent by an angry Coach Buzzcut to the local shop because they need to buy athletic supporters (or as they call them "sip otters") for gym class. They end up buying eyepatches instead, & Daria who happened to be at the store takes a picture of the boys. She writes about it, while Beavis and Butt-Head's self-written note is ignored by Buzzcut.

Plot[]

Beavis and Butt-Head are lighting a grasshopper on fire when Daria walks up on them with a camera. Her parents made her join the school paper where she was assigned to write about fashion, which she hates.

Beavis and Butt-Head try to join the gym club but are hilariously injured by Coach Buzzcut. He angrily confronts them for not wearing proper athletic supporters and sends them to go buy some at the local sporting good's store, threatening to sign them up for his remedial squat thrust seminar over the summer otherwise.

At the sporting goods store, even the smallest supporters turn out too big for Beavis and Butt-Head. The owner gives them eye patches instead which they try on in the changing room. Meanwhile, Daria enters the store to ask about active wear for her article. Beavis and Butt-Head exit the cubicle wearing the eye patches instead of underpants. Mocking their tiny genitalia, Daria snaps a quick pic.

The next day, Buzzcut reads Beavis and Butt-Head's self-written note asking him to excuse them from wearing athletic supporters and claiming they were unable to find any because of a shortage. Not believing the two for a minute, Buzzcut produces Daria's article in the school paper with the eye patch snap shot before laughing at them and making them do endless squat thrusts.

Censorship[]

The opening scene of Beavis and Butt-head lighting grasshoppers on fire was cut due to what happened in Ohio. It was soon replaced with Beavis and Butt-head dueling grasshoppers.

Trivia[]

Buzzcut wears his "COACH" shirt for the first time in this episode.
This is the first episode not to feature a music video at the end.
This episode was likely produced during season 2 due to the different animation and was delayed for unknown reasons.
Starting with this episode, Daria has a new design. She now wears a white shirt, a black leather jacket, and a red skirt, however in Citzen Butt-Head, her design is how she looked in Season 2 and Incognito.

Hell that's funny boys. Beavis: Cool! Snug 'nads!

[Daria does a double-take]

Butt-Head': [in the changing room] The family jewels are secure!

[Beavis and Butt-head emerge wearing nothing but T-shirts and the eye patches]

Beavis: How do we look?

Daria: [does a double take.] Wow! Even smaller than I thought!

[Daria takes a photograph as Beavis and Butt-head pull their T-shirts down to their knees. She then smiles.]

[In the alternate opening, Beavis and Butthead are seen dueling Grasshoppers]

Beavis: My Grasshopper is bigger than yours.

Butthead: Shut up, Beavis.
