Serena Ryan is the main antagonist of the 2022 film Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe. She was a former NASA astronaut and governor of Texas. She is voiced by Andrea Savage.
Physical appearance[]
Serena is a tall, tan-skinned woman with brown hair, brown eyes and a slim build. In 1998, Serena's hair reached her mid-back and she ties it up in a ponytail upon going into space. She is first seen wearing a blue NASA jumpsuit at space camp, and later an orange spacesuit.
By 2022, Serena's hair is cut to a shoulder-length bob and she has a few age lines on her face. She wears small silver hoop earrings, a gold necklace, a blue tailored business suit with a white blouse, brown heeled boots and red lipstick/nail polish.
Personality[]
Serena is shown to have a headstrong and somewhat erratic personality. While intelligent enough to become an astronaut and eventual governor, she was oblivious to Beavis and Butt-Head's stupidity and horniness until the end of the movie.
She is dedicated to her work to a near-obsessive degree, said to have dreamed of being astronaut since childhood and shown to do whatever it takes to preserve her reputation/career; she is willing to sacrifice herself for her crew and later is willing to break laws to ensure her re-election as governor, going so far as to even consider having sex with the underage duo to keep her misdeeds hidden.
Serena is shown to be vindictive towards Beavis and Butt-Head due to their idiocy dooming the space mission (of which forced her to suffer for weeks, drinking her urine and even resorting to cannibalism to survive), and subsequentially tries to abandon them in space, leaving the duo for dead in order to cover it all up. She sets out to attempt killing them again, 24 years later, when she finds out they survived the incident and assumes they want revenge. However, by the end of the film she seems to have realized the error of her ways, and has little to no ill will towards them.
She practically demands respect from others, acting dismissive towards her assistant, Jim Hartson, for decades and immediately agreed to hook up with Smart Beavis after he praised her and offered her everything she wanted (though she likely did not enjoy the experience, seeing as she ignored Smart Beavis' calls and texts after having sex with him).

- Serena heavily resembles her voice actress, Andrea Savage.
- Serena fills a very similar niche to Dallas Grimes from the Beavis and Butt-Head Do America movie, particularly with the boys' desire to "score" with her driving the plot of the Do the Universe movie, similar to their attraction to Dallas in the first movie. However, Dallas and Serena have very different personalities and act as entirely different forms of antagonists:
- While Dallas remained an open and notorious criminal/terrorist, Serena managed to lead a legitimate political career and acts to keep her corrupt, criminal activity in secrecy.
- Dallas was openly hostile to the boys from the start and despite acting seductive to get what she wanted out of them, she never had any real intention of "scoring" with them. On the other hand, Serena is shown to act genuinely friendly with Beavis and Butt-Head at first, and despite growing more hostile towards them over the course of the film, she eventually gives up and consents to their desires to maintain her secrecy.
