Manners Suck

Manners Suck is the 21st episode of Season 4 of Beavis and Butt-Head. It is the 78th episode overall.

Plot[]

Beavis and Butt-Head are watching a TV show about an old lady training her dog. The two remain quiet until the lady instructs the dog to 'speak', and they begin laughing. Later, at Highland High School, the class is messing around, with objects being thrown all around the classroom. Trying to get his class' attention, Mr. Van Driessen threatens to bring in Mr. Buzzcut, and the room falls quiet. Van Driessen then informs the class that some parents were concerned and wanted the students to learn good manners, and he introduces Mr. Manners before leaving him to the room.

Mr. Manners tells the students that they're going to do a little bit of role-play, and Beavis and Butt-Head laugh it off. Thinking that they're just being 'know-it-alls', Mr. Manners gets them to volunteer, having Beavis play a waiter and Butt-Head play a customer at a hypothetical restaurant. He tries to prompt the the two to use manners in several scenarios but none of them seem work, with the duo taking everything literally and answering to each other as rudely as they normally would. After Butt-Head calls Beavis a butt wipe, Mr. Manners gets fed up, grabbing Butt-Head and warning him with "This is my job, this is how I make money. Don't screw with me." Beavis and Butt-Head laugh it off again, remarking on how the man 'sure likes to touch' with Beavis even implying he tried to molest them. This horrifies Mr. Manners, and he immediately turns to grab Beavis by the neck, calling him a little liar. Mr. Van Driessen then opens the door, with Manners still insisting that Beavis is lying. After Beavis confirms that Mr. Manners hit him, the two adults get into a fight, much to the class' awe. Amongst this, it seems that Beavis and Butt-Head actually did learn some manners, stating "No, thank you, Sir" and "Thank you, drive through," as Van Driessen and Manners head out of the classroom, continuing to fight.

Later on, in the boys bathroom, Beavis and Butt-Head can be heard trying to use their manners again, asking their poop to 'please' come out.

Censorship[]

On the Mike Judge Collection, Volume 1, the scene where Beavis and Butt-Head use manners to release poop from their bowels is cut. However, it is included as an Easter Egg on the first DVD.

Trivia[]

Mr. Manners makes his return in "Candy Sale" as Mr. Candy. That episode would reveal that it took him 6 months after the duo's allegations to get another job.
Actor/comedian David Spade provides the voice of Mr. Manners.

Goofs[]

In two scenes, Mr. Manners' hair goes from blonde to brown, then back to blonde.
In this episode, thin Martin and the punk girl are bald at the back of their heads, where they would normally have hair.

Act 1[]

(Beavis and Butt-head are watching an old lady teaching her dog manners.)
Beavis: This sucks.
Butt-head: Yeah. I'll bet they put stuff that sucks on TV to make us go to school.
Beavis: Umm, I think it's working.

Act 2[]

(Mr. Manners about to start some "fun" activities)
Mr. Manners: Now I need a couple of volunteers.
Butt-head: Uhh, pole-play?
Beavis: Yeah heh heh, I can do that.
Mr. Manners: Ok, but what's the magic word?
Butt-head: Uhh...
Beavis: Um, heh... Abracadabra?
Mr. Manners: Now, come on, what do you say when you want something?
Butt-head: Oh uhh, Buttwipe? (Begin to laugh)
Beavis: Yeah heh heh. Give me something Butt-wipe! Bunghole!
Butt-head: Yeah. Huh huh huh.
Beavis: Heh heh. Bunghole...
(Butt-head continues to laugh.)

Act 3[]

(The two start their "fore-playing.")
Mr. Manners: Beavis, say something like "Good evening, sir, my name is Beavis. Welcome to our restaurant. May I take your order, please?

(Beavis freezes)

Mr. Manners: Go ahead! We're waiting!
Beavis: Um, hi, Butt-head. (Starts writing)
Butt-head: Hi, Master Beavis.
Beavis: I was supposed to introduced me, Bunghole! (He continues writing.) Um.. Um.. welcome, to, uh, a restaurant, yeah. Can you, like, take my order?
Butt-head: Yeah! Get me some nachos, butt-wipe!
(Mr. Manners approaches and grabs Butt-Head angrily.)
Butt Head: Ah!
Mr. Manners: Listen, you little... twerp! This is my job! This is how I make money! Don't screw with me! Now, how bout using some manners?
Butt-head: Huh, huh! Manners suck! (Title of the episode.)
Beavis: Hey Butt-head, don't screw with him.
Butt-head: Yeah, he sure does like to touch.
Beavis: Yeah, he tried to touch my wiener.
Mr. Manners: (horrified) WHAT?! (He grabs Beavis.) You little liar!

(Mr. Manners angrily tries to attack Beavis.)

Beavis: BACK OFF, YOU PERVERT!

Mr. Manners: He's lying!

(Mr Van Driessen enters the room and angered, comes to the rescue by separating the two.)

Mr Van Driessen: Hey! Don't you dare lay a finger on my students! Beavis, did he hit you?

Beavis: Yes, Sir, he did. Thank you for your concern.

(Mr. Manners, enraged, tries to attack Beavis again, but Mr Van Driessen stops him.)

Mr Manners: WHY, YOU LITTLE DIRTBALL!

Mr Van Driessen: YOU WANT TO TOUCH MY STUDENTS?! I'LL TOUCH YOU!

(They get into a fight. The class begin to cheer.)

Mr Manners: I'LL GET YOU, YOU LITTLE PUNK!

Butt-head: Er, no, thank you, Sir.

Beavis: Yeah. Thank you, drive through.

(The teacher and Mr Manners are still fighting.)

Mr Van Driessen: Stop it! Stop it!

Mr Manners: You're dead, hippie!

Mr Van Driessen: YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL, JACKASS!

Mr Manners: You're going down, Woodstock!

Mr Van Driessen: TAKE THAT, YOU FASCIST!

(They both head out, STILL FIGHTING.) Beavis and Butt-head watch them, laughing.)

Mr Manners: YOU'RE HURTING ME! Security!

Mr Van Driessen: Let go!

Act 4[]

Butt-head: Please, come out. Please?
(Butt-head's turd drops)
Beavis: Yeah. Me too. (struggling) Hey Butt-head, it's not coming out.
Butt-head: Maybe you should try using manners, Beavis.
Beavis: Oh yeah. Um, please come out of my butt. (straining) Please?! (big turd drops) Ahhhhh! Heh heh. Thank you, drive through.
Butt-head Manners. Hey Beavis, would you please wipe my butt?
(They both laugh.)
