Kidney

Kidney is the 13th episode of Season 9 of Beavis and Butt-Head and the 235th episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Old Beavis needs a kidney donor.

Plot[]

Smart Beavis and Smart Butt-Head teleport onto the moon, having bought a beach property from a "hot single" in their area under the name "Melody1998". As they look in vain for the beach and "Melody1998", they give the viewers another glimpse into the lives of middle-aged Beavis and Butt-Head.

As the aged duo watch TV, Beavis complains that a spring is sticking up from the couch right under him. Not caring, Old Butt-Head gets up to get another beer and Beavis slides over to his side, asserting that he'll sit on Butt-Head's side from now on. Butt-Head replies he'll just take the spot back when Beavis gets up to pee, prompting Beavis to vow never to pee again.

Over the next two days, Beavis' bladder keeps filling as Butt-Head taunts him to get up and pee. Eventually, Beavis reveals he put a clip on his penis so he can't pee, and declares himself victorious. However, his kidneys violently burst and he collapses, with Butt-Head reclaiming his spot on the couch.

Later, Beavis is barely conscious in a hospital bed with a doctor explaining he needs a kidney transplant. The hospital staff asks Butt-Head, but he doesn't even want to be tested to see if his kidney is compatible. Another hospital worker runs in saying they found a donor who actually knows Beavis and Butt-Head and is willing to help. The now middle-aged Stewart Stevenson enters the hospital room, acting like he, Beavis and Butt-Head were best friends, when in reality, the duo barely remember him and are far from happy to see him. Soon, Stewart is in a hospital bed as well and Beavis expresses how reluctant he is to do the operation since part of Stewart will be inside him and he thinks it might make him lame. Just as Stewart is having second thoughts, a doctor anasethtizes him and Beavis, rendering them unconscious.

After the operation, Beavis and Butt-Head are in a restaurant, listening to Stewart ramble on about how him and Beavis are now "blood brothers". He mentions that he and Beavis can't drink due to the surgery, and starts going on about his life over the years since they last met, but Beavis chugs a bottle of champagne, causing his kidney to burst again. Beavis is glad about this, stating that Stewart's kidney "sucked", and takes the clip off his penis, asking the shocked Stewart if he knows anyone cool who can give him a kidney.

Trivia[]

This episode marks Stewart's first appearance in the 2022 revival, and his first appearance as a middle-aged man. Here, he is voiced by Sam Johnson, replacing Thomas Middleditch from the 2011 revival and Adam Welsh from the original series.
- Stewart is shown to still be wearing his Winger shirt from his youth under his jacket, unlike the middle-aged duo who ditched their rock band shirts. He is also revealed to have triplets and a job as a junior administrator at a mortgage, and had struggled for 6 years since moving out of Highland.
- There is yet to be an episode where the young duo meet middle-aged Stewart in the main timeline, and Stewart's triplets are yet to appear.
- Stewart's middle-aged self resembles a blonde Bill Dauterive from fellow Mike Judge series King of the Hill.
When Old Beavis is being gassed out, he can be heard muttering "I am the Great Cornholio". This is the first time Old Beavis references Cornholio and the first mention of Cornholio in the 2022 revival.
This episode and its sister both feature the duo in hospital at some point, albeit for different reasons and in different timelines, but with the same female doctor treating them (or one of them in this episode's case).
This is the first episode where Old Butt-Head doesn't need a scooter or cane to move around, as he is noticeably slimmer here (though his slimmer appearance was used for the video segments for "Home Aide").
Beavis previously went two weeks without peeing in "Trouble Urinating". However, his kidneys didn't burst in that episode, despite him going much longer than three days without urinating in that episode.
