Beavis and Butt-Head

Harold "Harry" Sachz is a minor character in Beavis and Butt-Head, often appearing as an antagonist for the titular duo.

In his first appearance, he experiences at least six weeks of near-frequent harassment by Beavis and Butt-Head, through a series of prank calls involving flushing of a toilet and other scatological noises ("Prank Call"). The duo find his name amusing and refer to him as "Hairy Sack". Driven to a near-homicidal rage, Sachz eventually purchases a caller ID to track down their phone number. He then calls Beavis and Butt-Head back, offering to deliver a free pizza as a ruse to find out where they live, but they are unable to remember their own address. When Sachz asks them to read the address off their mail, Butt-Head reads Stewart's name and address off some mail he and Beavis had stolen from Stewart's mailbox. As a result, Stewart's father, Mr. Stevenson, ultimately suffers the consequences of their actions by having his phone rammed up his rectum. It is likely that Sachz got arrested after this, as several police cars turned up outside the Stevenson residence following the incident.

In "Nothing Happening", Sachz was shown at the wheel of a stolen car, being chased by the police and was shot by them when he surrendered, his body subsequently being carried away on a stretcher.

Harry returns in the episode "Butt Flambé". He is seen at the hospital waiting room with bullet holes in his gut—presumably from his confrontation with police in the episode "Nothing Happening"—and briefly speaks with them, annoyingly saying that Beavis should not be complaining. His last name was changed to Bormann, likely because he was tired of his original last name as seen in "Prank Call", or another character who looked like Sachz. Although he is depicted as having passed away later on in the episode, he reappeared in the 2011 revival.

In the Season 8 episode "Doomsday", his first appearance since "Butt Flambé", he beats up Beavis and Butt-Head, after finding the duo in his house. Harry also appears briefly in "Bounty Hunters", on an FBI's Most Wanted poster at the Highland post office, which advertises a $5,000,000 reward for his capture. It has not been explained exactly what crime Sachz was wanted for.

His seemingly miraculous return from death has not been explained, although it could be guessed that the doctors had miscalculated and he woke up later, perhaps that this man was merely a Harry Sachz look a like since his last name was different, Butt-Head could have likely saved him because he took the bullets out of his stomach when he supposedly died, the episode wasn't canon, or the events prior all happened due to the floating timeline. His right leg is stiff in his recent appearances, possibly caused by the gunshot wound he got. Ultimately, due to the time-travelling events of Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, the 2011 revival is no longer canon to the series, so it is unknown if he really survived the gunshots in the original timeline.

In "Garage Band", a man resembling Harry is seen in the crowd.

Physical appearance[]

He is a tall, physically imposing, middle-aged man with multiple tattoos, a receding hairline, chin-curtain beard and a dark brown mullet.

Personality[]

In most of his appearances, he is portrayed as a violent thug. He has a huge criminal record under his belt and is mentally unhinged, as demonstrated in "Prank Call" when the duo kept making fun of his name, driving him into a homicidal rage. In the same episode, Harry has no qualms threatening a child (Stewart). He is often seen in trouble with authorities, engaging in car chases with the police and ending up on the FBI's Most Wanted list. He isn't very well off, as he lives in a run-down house and isn't the most hygienic.

Trivia[]

  • A criminal character using his character design named Sam appeared in the Virtual Stupidity video game, 5 months before "Prank Call" premiered in January 1996.
  • It is implied in various episodes that he is a biker, although he has yet to be shown riding the motorcycle that is visible in his house.
  • In a 2025 interview, Lew Morton teased about potentially bringing Harry back in a future episode of the 2022 revival as a senior citizen.[1]
    • A Harry Sachz lookalike previously appeared in Season 10's "Stolen Valor" as one of the veterans at the American Legion Hall with Tom Anderson, who initially grew suspicious of Old Beavis and Old Butt-Head's "war stories" before coming to the false conclusion that they're actually CIA agents. He was voiced by Jim Meskimen.
