GWAR is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1984, known for their grotesque characters and satirical music.
Prominence in Beavis and Butt-Head[]
GWAR is established in the series as one of Beavis and Butt-Head's favorite bands. Several of their music videos have appeared on the show and commented on by the duo.
The band are the main catalyst behind the plot of the Beavis and Butt-Head video game, where they announce that they will be performing live in Highland.
- In the SNES version, the duo don't have cash for tickets, so they get the idea to do "cool stuff" around town in order to impress them enough to let them in for free.
- In the Sega Genesis version, the boys notice the band's advertisement on TV so the two immediately purchase two tickets to see the band. As they cherish the tickets however, a dog snatches the pair of tickets out of their hands. The duo give chase to the dog, who eventually coughs them up, but as the boys are about to recollect the tickets, they get shredded into nine pieces total by Tom's lawnmower. The boys search all around Highland to reacquire the tickets. Once collected, they reach the GWAR concert where they are able to view the band performing LIVE.
