Freaky Friday is the 16th episode of Season 9 of Beavis and Butt-Head and the 238th episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Beavis and Butt-Head mistakenly think they have switched bodies after getting beat up.

Plot[]

At Maxi-Mart, Beavis and Butt-Head are shaking soda bottles and putting them back in the fridge while talking about Freaky Friday. A man named Lucas gets sprayed with his soda, sees that the duo was behind it and angrily bangs their heads together, knocking them unconscious. They soon wake up, noting that they saw a flash just like in Freaky Friday. Then, standing on opposite sides of the open fridge door, the boys think they are each other's reflections. After asking each other a couple questions (on things they have in common and thus would both have the same answers to), Beavis and Butt-Head believe they have switched bodies.

At school, Beavis and Butt-Head are wearing each other's clothes and explain the "situation" to Mr. Van Driessen when he questions why they responded to each other's names. Van Driessen thinks they are just struggling with typical teenage identity issues and expresses support. Getting mixed up, Beavis writes a "B" on his hand for "Butt-Head" so he doesn't forget who he is; Butt-Head does the same, writing a "B" for "Beavis" on his hand. Beavis has to pee and tells Butt-Head he'll just have to pee/poop in Butt-Head's pants so he doesn't have to touch a weiner that supposedly isn't his own. Annoyed, Butt-Head stands up and tells everyone in class to never score with him as payback. The two start beating each other up, with Van Driessen brushing them off. At home, Beavis and Butt-Head continue to be miserable having "switched" and beat themselves up, seeing it as hurting each other.

Later, they see Lucas arriving at Maxi-Mart with his girlfriend Debbie. They ask him to kick their asses again so they can switch back, but Lucas claims Debbie has shown him the light and taught him to be non-violent—that he now understands you must consider someone else's perspective before acting harshly towards them. He only says this to look good in front of his girl, as he bangs the boys' heads together again once she goes into the store. When Beavis and Butt-Head wake up, they think they might've switched back, but can't read the letters on their hands since they're smeared off. Butt-Head says it doesn't really matter and Beavis agrees. The boys walk into the sunset wondering if they learned something from this experience, and hoping not.

Trivia[]

The episode's title and plot is a reference to the novel/movie Freaky Friday; the duo even talk about having seen the movie at the start of the episode. It is unknown which film adaptation they watched as the novel has spawned many over the years, each by Disney.
A new younger cashier is shown at the Maxi-Mart, replacing the older one from the original series.
