Beavis and Butt-Head

Burger World is a recurring location in Beavis and Butt-Head. It is a fast-food restaurant where Beavis and Butt-Head both work.

The duo cause nothing but havoc here as they goof off and fail to perform even simple tasks, including taking orders. They have also damaged the drive-thru speaker, rearranged letters on the menu to spell anything disgusting or vulgar, fried just about every kind of small creature there is, stolen money from the register, and slowed service so badly that everybody left.

The manager has kept them employed, despite all this, inadvertently enabling their goofing off and never fires them. It's possible that because of the duo's antics, Burger World is a horrible place to work; it should also be noted that besides the duo and the manager, nobody else is shown to be employed there (aside from comics and video games).

The potential reasons Beavis and Butt-Head have never been fired are because the two have damaged the reputation of Burger World beyond repair; as a result, no one wants to work there, or Beavis and Butt-Head are canonically the only employees working there, and the manager is unable to find someone to replace them. It is currently unknown how the duo got their jobs, and how they got them back after being missing for 24 years (as shown in Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe).

Video Games[]

  • Beavis and Butt-Head (video game): Burger World appears at the start of the game, where the duo have to serve Mr. Stevenson.
  • Virtual Stupidity: Burger World is one of the main locations in the game. The duo are first seen working here in the opening cutscene seen on start-up where they get beaten by Todd for ignoring his order. Later, the manager tells them that the restaurant is closed for renovation and they don't have to come in, but they need food for Todd's gang in the park, and only the drive-thru is open. The duo has to steal the tank at the Veteran's Hall to collect the food, much to the manager's bewilderment. The remodeled restaurant re-opens after the duo escape from prison and they encounter Gina there who has Todd's car keys in her locker at school, which is closed until Monday. The duo have to throw her burger into the ceiling fan to scare the young cashier off so they can go to the kitchen.
  • Bunghole in One: Burger World appears as one of the courses.
  • Burger World is mentioned in Beavis and Butt-Head Do U, but doesn't appear.

Notable Incidents[]

  • In "Burger World", Beavis and Butt-Head give Tom Anderson food that is infested with flies and a dead mouse.
  • In "Customers Suck", a number of incidents happened. The first was Beavis deep-frying the phone. Another incident happened when Principal McVicker was taking an order at the drive-thru, but Butt-Head told him to "shut up", "go away" and that they're "like...closed or something." The third and final incident occurred when Mr. Stevenson was asking a question about the shakes at Burger World, but Beavis and Butt-Head refuse to answer the question and Mr. Stevenson leaves, annoyed.
  • In "Closing Time", the duo committed a health code violation because they threw food into the ceiling fan during their late shift. They also gave health inspector Harry Buddisker worms instead of fries.
  • In "Liar! Liar!", their boss notices that the cash register is missing money and he orders them to take a lie detector test to see which of the duo was taking money. However, the results are that Butt-Head held his breath so much that he collapsed, while Beavis was somehow mistaken for a serial killer from 1969.
  • In "Tainted Meat", Beavis constantly scratches his penis and touches the meat, causing a lot of customers to get sick, and Burger World to be shut down for a while; Beavis got away with it and Burger World re-opened later.
  • In "Oil Change", they changed the cooking oil in the fryer with motor oil from a Jiffy Lube, causing a massive release of smoke, and possibly a small fire. Later, they dump the cooking oil in the sewers, which causes the oil to hit the ocean and creates a pollution. However, no one knew that the cooking oil came from Burger World or that Beavis and Butt-Head were the culprits. Not even the duo themselves knew they were the culprits when they watched a news report about it on TV later.
  • In "Huh-Huh-Humbug", Beavis and Butt-Head have to work on Christmas Eve, taking turns to sleep on the job. A bored Beavis decides to fry a mouse on the grill, which the manager catches him doing, then lectures him on why he will never rank up to assistant manager. When Beavis doses off, the manager goes out to the register and smacks Butt-Head awake.
  • In "No Service", Beavis is called in to work alone (because Butt-Head was "busy watching TV"), while Butt-Head interrupts the customers and gets thrown out, so he kicks the drive-thru speaker to annoy Beavis.
  • In "Vaya Con Cornholio", Beavis turned into Cornholio after chugging down the latest soda. When a government official shows up at the restaurant to check for illegal immigrants, he notices Beavis in the middle of his Cornholio spiel and mistakes him for an immigrant, causing him to deport him to Mexico after a few assumptions based on Cornholio's speech.
  • In "Citizens Arrest", a crook tried to rob them, but as a police officer arrived to order food, the boys put him on citizen's arrest and the cops arrested the crook. Later, Beavis and Butt-Head begin putting people on citizen's arrest until the cops came and beat them up.
  • In "On Strike", Beavis and Butt-Head refuse to work, so they go on strike, and the manager ultimately punished them by being forced to clean the tables.
  • In "Special Delivery", Burger World set up their first delivery service. However, the boys get the wrong address, stay at a random man's home and did not collect the money because the random man is broke. The boys went home after that and they decide to call the delivery at Burger World. However, this lead their boss to deal with a large crowd of customers and the delivery service was discontinued the same night when it just got started, making it both Burger World's first and last night of its delivery service.
  • In "Work is Death", Beavis and Butt-Head attempt to get "worker's compensation", thus by repeatedly injuring Beavis in various ways and creating a huge mess only to learn it has to be an accident-related injury. However, their boss ends up getting injured from all the equipment and hazards they left lying around instead.
  • In "Bathroom Break", the duo hog the restaurant's bathroom for hours as a scam to get paid for doing nothing. The manager has to serve the impatient queue while running into obstacles and tripping over himself. He then has a dire urge to urinate, but can not enter the bathroom as the pair have locked the door. The manager leaves the restaurant and hides behind a secluded wall to urinate, but the police park right next to him and arrest him for public urination. As he turns to face them without doing up his zipper, he is also charged with indecent exposure.
  • In "Supersize Me", Beavis and Butt-Head start eating excessive amounts of Burger World food to deliberately make themselves obese, thinking they could use it to get women, after seeing Morgan Spurlock's fame from his documentary, Super Size Me. However, they unintentionally cause the Burger World corporation to suffer negative publicity as a result when Mr. Van Driessen assigns them to make a documentary of their own about it with the help of other classmates. The duo are made to go to Taco Yummo, so that restaurant would face negative publicity instead.
  • In "The Rat", the duo go to work at Burger World with their rat in tow. Beavis lets the rat work in the kitchen with him and takes it out on the tray when a woman orders. She is shocked and calls the manager, who is angry with Beavis and Butt-Head. As the rat went missing while they were being told off, they search around for it. Later, it turns out that the rat was pregnant and it gave birth to a litter of babies in the restaurant, possibly leading to an infestation.
  • In "Refuse Service", Beavis and Butt-Head take advantage of their right to refuse service (which is when the customer is creating a hostile and/or unsafe work environment) and abuse it, refusing service to every customer they come across, even cops, accusing them of "creating an environment". Later, they cause a fight between two men for their food which eventually escalates into a full-on restaurant brawl. The police arrived at the scene, most likely to break it up and make arrests. The 'Refuse Service' sign was also damaged in the fracas, and the manager didn't seem to do anything about it.
  • In "Married", after overhearing that Old Beavis and Butt-Head got married, Shawna takes them to Burger World to make up for all the times that she turned them down (under the impression that they were a homosexual couple and that she just misjudged them for all the times they tried to flirt with her). Shawna goes to buy them lunch while they sit down and talk about the potential of her joining their supposed threesome with the lady who married them. The two of them get into a fight which leads to Beavis storming off, while Butt-Head stays. When Shawna comes back with the food, she wonders where Beavis is. Butt-Head tells her to forget about him and starts flirting with her again. She angrily throws her drink in his face and slaps him to the floor, leaving the restaurant. Butt-Head's only comment after her departure is that she left her food.
  • In "The Ciabatta Zone", Beavis mopped the floor with greasy, contaminated liquid, which the manager was strangely alright with despite the filthiness of the water and the mess likely making the floor slippery as a result. Later, an envious Beavis abandoned his post to create his own mascot to compete with Butt-Head's official Burger World mascot costume, likely leaving the restaurant with angry customers due to lack of service. Also, the jealous boyfriend of one of the girls Butt-Head groped when he first wore the costume beat Beavis up when Butt-Head let him wear the costume to save his own skin. It is unknown if the boyfriend faced criminal charges for assaulting a member of Burger World staff, or if the manager dealt with customers while the duo were fooling around outside the restaurant.
  • In "Nacho Shake", Beavis and Butt-Head invented the eponymous drink by putting the nachos that were meant for the customers in the shake machine. After drinking it and dreaming about how rich it may make them, the duo decide to make a "Nacho Shake Supreme" out of raw meat and coffee, believing it will make them "buh-billionaires". They manage to sell several of these in one night, but the drink gave 9 customers food poisoning and caused the restaurant to shut down for 30 days with an F from the health department. The following morning, the duo decided to console the distraught manager by breaking into the condemned restaurant to make another "Nacho Shake Supreme".
  • In "Work from Home", tired of their apartment, Old Beavis and Butt-Head decide to not only return to work at Burger World, but also live there, inspired by their neighbor at Highland Gardens complaining about their noise while he was trying to work from home. There, they prioritize lazing around and "getting swole" over the customers, and even tell a woman in the drive-thru to get them beer. Later on, when the manager entrusts them to lock up and count the profits, the Old duo decide to celebrate their first day by going out for dinner at Taco Yummo across the street, with Old Butt-Head stealing money from the register to pay for their food, leaving the restaurant empty and unlocked. While the two are dining at Taco Yummo, the cashier there takes advantage of their stupidity by breaking into the Burger World and robbing it, as well as calling his friends over for a party, who completely trash the interior of the restaurant.

Trivia[]

  • Show creator Mike Judge has confirmed that Burger World's name was taken from the 1989 cult comedy film UHF, where "Weird Al" Yankovic briefly works at a fast food restaurant with that name. The name "Burger World" has appeared elsewhere in Yankovic's creative output, namely the music video for his Michael Jackson parody song "Fat." The duo's uniforms are identical to Al's.
  • The restaurant's logo appears to be the McDonalds' Arches turned upside down. The name is a play on Burger King, too.
    • McDonald's previously appeared in the background in "Frog Baseball".
  • In "It's a Miserable Life", Charlie shows Butt-Head that if he wasn't ever born, Burger World would have been a big hit, and the restaurant would have been able to afford a playground.
  • The Virtual Stupidity video game and issue #3 of the Marvel Comics are the only times in the franchise so far that someone else other than the duo and the manager is seen working at Burger World.
  • In the alternate timeline where the duo never time traveled, circa 1999, the duo were finally fired from Burger World ("Home Aide").
  • In "Stolen Valor", Old Beavis keeps trying to recount an unseen incident involving the shake machine at Burger World, but he keeps getting interrupted.
  • In the 2022 revival, Burger World's modern exterior design is inconsistent; in "Refuse Service" and "Nacho Shake", the building looks flatter and wider, while in "The Ciabatta Zone", it looks smaller, the roof is thicker, and there are tables outside (it also appears in a similar design in "Work from Home", only without the tables). Also, in "Married" and "Stolen Valor", the building looks less gentrified, lacking the tower at the side and overall looking closer to how it did in the original series and the 2011 revival, though this could've been a different Burger World branch. The interior stays consistent for the most part.
