Beavis and Butt-Head

Beavis and Butt-Head's house, located at 322 Woodson Street, Highland, TX, is the primary residence of the duo. This is where their couch is, as well as the TV, which they are regularly seen watching. The duo partake in many activities in the house, such as couch-fishing, channel-surfing, and critiquing media such as music videos, reality shows and social media.

The house was implied to belong to Butt-Head. However, since Beavis often stays the night (if not all the time), it is safe to say that it is also his home. In Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe, it was revealed that the house was actually owned by Beavis' mother (Shirley Beavis), indicating it was Beavis' house and Butt-Head was the one staying over all the time, and all those implications of it being Butt-Head's house were either non-canon or just the duo being stupid and not even knowing whose house it belonged to.

Appearances[]

Being the duo's residence, the house appears in most episodes, or, if counting the video review segments, almost all episodes. It also appears in both movies and every video game.

Continuity[]

In nearly every episode, the layout of the living room is simple; to the left of the sofa is the window, to the right is the front door and kitchen/bathroom area. But, in the video game, Butt-Head's room is located to the far right of the couch, and the kitchen is to the left. This has carried on into some videos.

In one music video segment, Beavis excuses himself to go make pancakes, and goes to the left. We hear a door shut, meaning that it is styled differently. When he returns, asking for a pan and spatula, he is instructed to go to Butt-Head's room upstairs (despite the house being a single storey). He goes up, and returns with the gear. In the episode "Scientific Stuff", when Daria comes to visit the duo, they are in Butt-Head's room, which is a cluttered mess. There is an "AC/DC" poster on the wall, matching Butt-Head's t-shirt. In the game, the wall is changed to the word "Skull", to match the "legal" shirt, with a picture of a half-dead skull and fingers. The GWAR poster, with ticket-pieces, is to the right of Butt-Head's bed. Also in the game, with the misplacement of Butt-Head's room, there is a neat and tidy sign on the door that reads "KEEP OUT!", probably placed by Butt-Head. The lamp is also placed on the opposite side of the couch, and the TV remote is rather small. In the pilots, early episodes and commentaries, the wallpaper was green. In others, the couch was drawn/shaped differently, colored from red to pink. Sometimes, when the duo dance "The Butt-Knocker", there is an end-table and otto-man near the chair.

Beavis and Butt-Head's Family's Residence[]

Beavis and Butt-Head are never supervised at all, especially at the house. No parental guidance for the duo has ever be shown. Beavis once admitted that he wanted "to stay over tonight" after being confused by a video. Butt-Head replied, "OK, but you have to ask your mom first!". Fans have speculated that their parents just left some cash and glue in the sofa, and beat it. Beavis said once that his mom usually "hangs out at the Merlin Lounge", saying that they could call her there. Beavis and Butt-Head never change their clothes, except for gym class and work, so they may not own any other outfits. They always appear in their "Metallica" and "AC/DC"/"Death Rock" and "Skull" t-shirts (as well as a Slayer shirt in one episode), so that may also be their style and taste in bands/phrases.

In Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, it is revealed that the house was owned by Beavis' mother, who abandoned or sold it by 2022, after the duo disappeared in the black hole in 1998. This is brought up again during a BTS video, where Butt-Head kicked Beavis out for dancing along to their music, only for Beavis to bring up the fact that it is his house.

It is also possible that, though Shirley owns the house, she does not live there and it is meant to be a home for both of them.

The Sofa and TV set[]

Beavis and Butt-Head always sit on the couch, located directly in front of the TV set. Butt-Head always sits on the left, and Beavis on the right. In a music video during Season 8, Butt-Head admits to have stolen the sofa, though considering the time-traveling events of Do the Universe, this may not be the case (though knowing Butt-Head, it probably still is). Their sofa is pink and is tattered and torn. The boys keep things like the TV remote, cash, glue, spaghetti/nutmeg, and other things in between the cushions, easy to pull out for their usage. It is unknown yet if the cushions also contain reclining seats, though this may cause Beavis and Butt-Head's clutter to topple out (not that they would care anyway). This also may be untested yet because the duo are not quite smart enough to check/try.

The room has been redrawn over the seasons, especially Season 8, where it looked slicker than the original run. In the original episodes (Seasons 1–3), the TV is placed on a bureau, antennae sticking out in different directions, and the wall paint was more of a green than blue. In the following seasons of the original run, the bureau is cluttered with trash, and the wall paint became its usual light blue. In the 2011 revival, there are DVD and VHS players lopsided on top of the TV (which is a slightly newer model), as well as a purple slushy. However, these changes are absent in video segments, due to them reusing footage from Seasons 5-7.

From Do the Universe onwards, the wall paint is a darker blue and there are no chips in it. Also, the duo have a flat-screen smart TV placed on a smaller table (which the NSA bribed them with to buy their silence at the end of the movie), which enables them to access YouTube and TikTok as well as terrestrial television (how they managed to figure it out is unknown). Beavis once smashed it in pure fury while they were watching a Ghosted clip because the man in the clip was complaining about "scoring too much" (with Butt-Head egging him on and not telling him to settle down for once), but the smart TV remains intact in later episodes (unless the government got them a new one or they stole someone else's).

In the alternate timeline where the duo never got sucked into a black hole and sent forward to 2022, there is a lot more clutter and the room is a much bigger mess than back in the day, with all sorts of garbage from pizza boxes to cigarettes to beer bottles everywhere. The couch has also been replaced with a single tattered chair since Butt-Head uses a mobility scooter at that point.

Destruction[]

The house has suffered significant damage a few times throughout the series:

  • Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe - The duo crashed a car into the house, leaving a gaping hole at the front of it. The government repaired it when they gave the duo their house back at the end of the movie to buy their silence.
  • "Locked Out" - The front of the house was taken off by Tom Anderson's pick up truck when he drove off with the back chained to a pipe and wrapped around a tree by Beavis. The duo took advantage of the hole to watch Anderson get beaten up by the police due to the chaos he caused dragging the wall and tree down the street looking for "Buford and Bernardo". It was repaired after the episode.
  • "Hoarders" - In 2033, the house was bulldozed, since it was left dilapidated for 10 years due to the duo being trapped under trash they hoarded in another attempt to score (and having been reduced to skeletons at that point).

Trivia[]

  • As revealed in the episode "Prank Call", the house's phone number is 555-2868.
  • Although the old TV set was retired in favor of a smart TV for the 2022 revival, it still appears in merchandise (e.g. calendars and the show's collaboration with Fortnite, as a backbling and as part of an emote).
